Join A 2nd Cup and local cooks to expand your palate and culinary horizons through intriguing and unique classes as we present Cooking Classes: Expand Your Palate. On August 24th, the theme will be Culinary Chemistry by Will Hutcheson + Crystal Young.

Will and Crystal are a husband and wife duo originally from Houston and College Station respectively. Will is a freelance programmer and food enthusiast while Crystal is an assistant professor of organic chemistry at the University of St. Thomas and the chair-elect of the Greater Houston Section of the American Chemical Society. 

They are excited to teach this class because, “When you know how a recipe works, then you know how you can change it, and you get much more comfortable with improvising in the kitchen. People are often afraid of things they don’t know and I believe learning more about both cooking and chemistry can expand any person’s horizons from making a better box of easy mac to a perfect pan seared tuna.”
